Visiting Lisbon, to participate in the conference "The Role of Portugal as a Global Competitor", Anja Manuel, specialist in geopolitics, spoke about the Trump administration, the frontiers and the new path of Portugal: the technology. The technology industry is pointed out by Anja as one of the main reasons why it no longer makes sense, nowadays, to talk on borders. Is it American, even if it operates in hundreds of countries and has more market share outside the United States?", questions, in a rethorical way, Anja Manuel.
The geopolitical expert Anja Manuel considers that Portugal is well placed to be a technological hub in the European Union, because the response to the current challenges that arise globally does not go through protectionism. "We are experiencing a period in which the boundaries mean increasingly less." In his opinion, Portugal has highly skilled labor force, good taxes for companies, openness to technology, all parts". Anja Manuel also underlined the investment of Google in Portugal, not seeing reasons "so that it does not come to be greater".
